Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, is by far the most visited (and often most loved) Scottish city, and for good reason. The old New Town and the even older Old Town are bursting with historic sites, museums, great shops, restaurants and pubs.

Edinburgh Castle is on the list of visits of course, and the walk through the Royal Mile will be remembered for a long time. For those who want something tougher and have sturdy walking shoes, the climb to Arthur's Seat is well worth the effort and the view of the city is phenomenal.

The Scots love to socialize, so the pubs at the Grass Market are a must during your visit. A fresh pint, live music and the night can't go wrong.

For those who have more time, the city is the gateway to the Highlands, so a trip to Inverness is more than worthwhile if you have some extra days to stay.
