Aarhus or Århus is the port city on the northeast coast of Jutland, mainland Denmark. It is the second largest city in the country. The city belongs to the Central Jutland (Midtjylland) region. Until 2007 it was the capital of the Århus province. The city has approximately 280,000 inhabitants (2019), the municipality of the same name has more than 300,000. Nearly 800,000 people live within a 30-minute drive of the city centre.

The Diocese of Aarhus dates back to 951 at the latest. We visit the 13th-century cathedral which is Denmark's largest church.

The main attraction here is Den Gamle By (Danish for The Old Town), an open-air museum of old buildings from Danish history, collected from all over the country. This is of course on the programme at Hyggetours.
